Annual Friends Wreath Craft

Once a year, a few of my friends and I get together for a crafting day making Christmas wreaths.  This is the 3rd year we have done this and we always have such a great time.  This year we invited a new person, and she jumped right in and hopefully had a great time and will join us next year.  Below are the wreaths made by Kim, Norma and Jennifer; followed by mine of which the last one isn’t really done yet.

It was after 9pm when we took the photos so no natural light.  I tried to clean them up a bit, but without my photoshop program they still turned out yellow.

Hats for Christmas

This mini slimline card is for two challenges: Freshly Made Sketches #509, and this months HLS October 2021 Anything Goes With Dies.

FMS#509 Sketch calls for a slim line card, however I didn't go that direction.  I wanted more color on this card so I trimmed down an A6 to accommodate the height of the die, but kept the width so I could add the red and black edges.

The hats are felt with a bit of Christmas stenciling behind them. The hats were a bear to pull together; the elf hat kept breaking off on the narrow tip each time it was pulled from the die.  Then, even using Multi Medium Matte glue, the felt and add-on bits required multiple applications to hold the pieces together.

Regardless, this one did turn out just like I planned and will go to a very good friend for Christmas.

A lot of supplies went into this one; they are listed at the bottom.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by.

Grateful for Good Friends

This card is for The Paper Players Challenge #654, which is a sketch challenge this week.

The hostess, LeAnne, posted that this sketch was a great design to use up "some of those DPS scraps"; or in my case a concerning hoard. Since that has been a bit of a goal of mine, I hit the 6x6 paper bin and went for some pretty colors that will please a very good friend of mine.

My only dislike of this card is the wax seal, I didn't have any lavender or purple and could only match the blues.  Since I was trying to draw out the beautiful lavender on this card, I should have just skipped the wax seal.

The supplies are as follows:
Sentiment by SU! Peaceful Moments
Glitter Paper, Stitched Frame and Flower dies from Memory Box
Sequins: LoveLadies Mix by Catherine Pooler
Wax Seal, and white embossing powder by Altenew
The wax itself is from Amazon
The DSP is old and was not labeled
The dark blue card stock is Bazzil

Polar Bear Midnight

This card is a mix of a few of challenges.

The first challenge that started this card is the Inspired By Challenge IB191C.  They had two themes and it was the adorable little bear wearing red shoes that caught my eye.  Unfortunately I didn't double check the site before coloring my bear and made his scarf red instead of his shoes.  I went with red and green instead of the blue for more traditional coloring.

The next challenge is for Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes With Dies .  The theme is actually "Anything Goes" so with the use of the two dies, I think I didn't mess this one up.  :)

The last challenge is for the CAS and Christmas challenge over at SplitCoast Stampers:  CAS660 which is called Midnight and their annual Christmas Card Challenge which was a sketch, that has been turned to landscape from portrait.

I don’t often like my own cards.  I usually find something that's just not right or feels off balance, but I really do like this little guy.

Elements of the card:
The stamp is a very old, and retired, Stampin’ Up set called Polar Bears.  He was colored with SU markers then fussy cut.  The glitter card stocks are from Memory Box and were cut using MamaElephant and Poppy dies.  The sentiment is also SU, but no clue what set it came from.  Card base is Neenah 110 lb.

Thank you for stopping by.

Celebrate!!

This CAS card is for both NBUS No.31 and the Paper Players challenges.

I hope this qualifies over at PP since the card does not actually say Happy Birthday.

The card elements here are all NBUS; the lovely Celebrate die is from SU and though I have thought of using it over the last few years, it never even made it off the original tape that it shipped in.  The sentiment was cut from black glitter card stock, then again from black foam so that it sits up nicely on the card.  The balloon die is from SSS and I cut four of them; then cut up the forth one to add extra balloons to the bunches.  Also, this die has one balloon that is separate from the bunch which allowed for the single floating balloon that is the POP of bright color.

Thank you,

Carolyn

Papercraft Challenge No.75

This card is for a few challenges:  Papercrafts Get Well challenge, SCS CAS and Featured Stamper challenges.

For the Papercrafts challenge, the sentiment reads: Sending Healing Hugs.

The base and oval card stock are SU! Shimmery White.  The butterfly was cut from discontinued SU White Glitter paper and colored with Copic markers.  The leaves and sentiment were cut from shimmery vellum purchased on Amazon.  The dies are Pink Fresh Studio Curvy Leaves, Mama Elephant Oval dies, and SSS butterfly.  The oval was dry embossed using a very old Cuttlebug folder.

The sentiment is Altenew, stamped with WOW and heat embossed with SU black detail embossing powder.

Thank you for stopping by.

Golden Poinsettia

This card is for the NBUS Challenge #31.

The NBUS elements are the lovely Altenew die and the Merry Christmas tape from Tim Holtz.

The red pearls and gold card stock are very old, and unlabeled.  The ink blending colors are Festive Berries, Worn Lipstick and just a touch of Concord Crush.

This was a very quick card, so I think I’ll make a few more with slight variations.

Thank you for stopping by,

Designer Paper: Hoard No More

The amount of 6X6 designer pads I have bought and never used over the years might qualify as hoarding.  Since I don’t want to end up on one of those hoarding shows one day, I’ve spent the better part of my week at home making simple cards using that stash.  Below are some of the results.

Many more to come.

Paper Strips

I’m working my way through my ridiculously extensive 6X6 designer paper stash.

Going through several of the sketch challenges I found an old Case This Sketch #252 layout that really works well with these paper pads.

The sketch left some open space, but I decided to use it as inspiration instead of matching the layout.  The paper pack is KaiserCraft Chapter One, it’s very old.  The Thank You die is Altenew.

I’ve made four cards using this design, and yes, it takes a bit of time.  I’ll post the others later.
